Pure Bud Bi Luo Chun
Splendid black tea made of first flush March 2017 harvest, all pure bud material. These rich, tender buds were grown in the Simao mountains of southern Yunnan Province. The leaves have been carefully crafted, rolled to create one of the sweetest, most satisfying of the spring black tea offerings from China. Note its uniformity, the consistent shape of the rolled leaves, attributes which create a smooth flavor and slowly bring forth nuanced and deep tastes. These leaves will slowly open to a rich and sweet black with plenty of lingering notes. There is plenty of energy (chi) in this rolled Bi Luo Chun black varietal.
Interesting facts about this lot. Tea was harvested early spring 2017. Warmer weather in late February into March brought forth some excellent teas after the cooler & late winter weather. Tea was grown in the Simao mountainous region of southern Yunnan Province. This lot is made using only bud stock.
Why we selected this lot. Its taste is exquisite! Rich and smooth, it seemed to embody most everything we were looking for in this prized black tea. It has a great mouth feel and a sweet, clean lingering finish.
Taste profile. Naturally sweet and smooth. Aromatic. We find the taste strong, with hints of sugarcane and chocolate - milky flavor.
Brewing suggestions. We suggest 3 grams per 8-12 ounces of water (one teaspoon) in water temperature of 195 to 205 degrees F. Steep for two minutes and taste. If you prefer a deeper, stronger cup, steep 3 minutes. These buds will offer multiple steeps.

It is a small step, but it is an action we believe in and will continue to follow.
