Brewing Instructions
Be generous with the leaf as this is a lightweight tea. For best flavor, use a full tablespoon of leaf, steep it for 4-5 minutes at a water temperature well below boiling 165-185 degrees F. Pour off the brewed tea and save the leaves for another steep.
White teas are naturally sweet, brew to straw-colored liquors and are low in caffeine. Produced on a limited scale in China, white tea is made of early growth or immature buds and leaves and is the least processed of the teas. Plucked at the earliest stage of the harvest, the leaves are withered to allow the natural moistures to evaporate and then they are dried. This process creates an abundance of silvery-white hairs on the dried leaves and buds.
Our white teas are grown in the northern area of Fujian Province. We have been buying these teas from the same sources for a number of years now and our quality is consistent and high. Rich in aroma and taste, these teas are ideal if you savor the unusual and nuanced tastes of early spring. They will satisfy both the most experienced tea drinker as well as someone just getting started. They are an ideal tea for teatime, a tea party or after a meal.
Health benefits: a rich source of antioxidants called flavenoids known to help in reducing cholesterol levels and blood pressure as well as an antibacterial agent to fight infections and colds. Naturally contains small amounts of fluoride.
