Keemun is an alluringly fragrant black tea. Long held to be beyond comparison with any black tea, "Quimen" offers rich, full-bodied flavors that make it a favorite worldwide. Today it is recognized as one of China’s “famous teas”, the modern-day equivalent of the Emperors’ “Tribute Teas”.

Why we selected this lot. This organically grown lot was farmed near Wulipai, in Quimen County and harvested in the spring of 2024. The factory produces only Keemuns with most of its production selling into the domestic market. Note, the leaves show a uniformity and shape that creates a smooth and "sweeter" side flavor.

Interesting facts about this lot. Lot is grown organically on a tea garden at approx. 1200 meters in Quimen County, Anhui Province. Garden is in the Huang Shan Mountains, a jagged and steep range that is flush with spring water and rich mineral soils. Once harvested, the leaves are cut thereby increasing its rate of oxidization. Harvest date is 2024.

Taste profile. Aroma offers hints of cocoa. Cups to a clean, “brisk” and naturally sweet taste with ample body. Flavor is soft notes of honey with a wonderful lingering aftertaste.

Brewing suggestions. Use a rounded tablespoon ( 3 grams) of leaf for 8-12 ounces of water. Water temperature of 195 F up to 205 F is best. Steep for 2 minutes and taste. For more body and deeper flavors, steep for 3 minutes.
