A full-bodied Sri Lankan black tea forms the base for this classic English beverage.  Flavored with Bergamot oil and garnished with beautiful, bright-blue Cornflowers, a classic English breakfast beverage brings flavor to a new level.

Tea Notes.  Sri Lankan black is a large leaf and full-bodied. This style of black is widely appreciated as a breakfast tea. The blend components lend rich flavors and build aromas on the tea.

Tea Facts. Black tea is Sri Lankan. Cornflower petals are organic and edible. Bergamot oil is made by crushing the rind of the fruit & scent the tea. Tea is caffeinated.

Tasting Notes.  The citrusy aroma of the tea rises first. The taste is fresh and clean given the citrus flavor of Bergamot. Cornflowers provide a soft, floral sweetness. Full-bodied, it is a mouthful of flavor.

Brewing Suggestions. Use 3-4 grams of leaf, a teaspoon, for every 8 ounces of water at 195- 212°F.  Steep for 3-4 minutes.

BLACK TEA

3 grams/1 teaspoon per 6 ounces of water

195° - 205° F

2 Minutes

Black tea is a leaf that has been fully oxidized. This rigorous oxidization produces a tea of hearty rich flavors while reducing its astringency and bringing out a natural sweetness.

Flavors will range from bright, brisk, peppery, clean, and smoky to aromatic, bold, malty, nutty, spicy, and sweet. Blacks are known for long, delicately aromatic, and comforting aftertastes. Note, they are often enjoyed with milk or sweetener.

Blue Flower Earl Grey Scores A Hit

I generally like a variety of black teas, but had not drunk Earl Grey recently until I tried this particular tea. It instantly became a favorite (strong body, fragrant but not too heavy).

    Most relaxing fragrance!

I simply love this tea. I've tried lots of Silk Roads Teas and this one would rank in my top 5. I've served this at parties and people love it!

    Revisiting an old friend

Posted by shiner on 11th Oct 2014

Years ago there was a tea house in NC where I live. They carried this type of Earl Grey. When they closed up shop, this tea disappeared from my tea cabinet. I am delighted to find it again and look forward to sharing a pot with the friend who first introduced this tea to me.
