Really lovely; very round light flavour, no bitterness
Our Downy Tip was grown on an island off the coast of Hangzhou, in the Zhou Shan Island complex. An early spring favorite, this cultivar is one of the first teas to make the marketplace at the onset of the harvest. Leaf is rich in vegetal flavors and minerals.
Lot Notes. We purchased a higher grade this season in light of the popularity of the last year's lot. Organically grown, small farm, lot size is limited. Tea cups to a rich, full-bodied green. We note is excellent enjoyed as an everyday, healthy beverage.
Tea Facts. Mao Jian is one of two grades of this green cultivar. This lot rates top of line. This lot is noted for its tight or dense buds. Best lots are harvested mid-to-late March into early April and processed to seemingly endless styles. Harvested early April 2022.
Tasting Notes. Richly vegetal in flavor and low in astringency. Cups to green-yellow liquor. Notes of chestnut. Tea has a pleasant warming effect on the body.
Brewing Suggestions. Use 3 grams or one teaspoon of leaf for 8-12 ounces of water at a temperature of 195 F. Steep for 2 - 2.5 minutes.
