Houji cha is mastery of tea cultivation, processing, and roasting. Beautifully uniform brown Bancha stems are roasted creating a green tea offering calming, roasted, woody aromas. Delicately sweet, Houjicha is served warm for comfort and chilled for refreshment.
Lot Notes. Our lot is roasted Tencha stems. Stems are uniform in cut, aesthetically pleasing appearance. Stems are from production of early harvest April 2023 Sencha. Infused its flavors are distinct, woodsy and roasted sweet.
Tea Facts. Stems are Tencha from Sencha ichibana harvest. Farm elevation approximately 250 meters. Caffeine level is considered to be moderate.
Taste Profile. Aroma is a nutty fragrance. Infused Hojicha offers woody, roasted, nutty sweet flavors.
Brewing Suggestions. Use 4-5 grams per 6-8 ounces. Water temperature right up to boiling. Infuse for 2-2.5 minutes and taste. Multiple steeps.
