White Fragrance is a “fresh” style of white tea. Ever inventive, a tea maker we know well has taken a new direction with the Mei Zhan cultivar. Mr. Wen crafted this rich leaf material into a white tea filled with deep green hues and abundant silvery buds. The resulting cup is notably stronger, more nuanced, and fuller-bodied than traditional white teas.
- The leaves remain natural in shape, reflecting careful plucking, cleaning, and air-drying. This tea was harvested during the last week of March 2026.
- A “fresh” tea in both appearance and flavor, it was crafted to suit local tastes in the Fuzhou area. We tasted it both in Gaiwan and Gong Fu style, finding the cup thirst-quenching and full-bodied in either preparation.
- This spring white tea bursts with naturally sweet flavors, subtle floral notes characteristic of the Mei Zhan cultivar, and a richness supported by the tea’s abundant nutrients.

White teas are produced in a brief window of time in the spring. The best whites are prized as they consist entirely of sweet buds. These teas are minimally processed in two steps – withering and drying.
Steeped white tea is delicate, extremely refreshing, and considered to contain less caffeine. The leaves will open to fresh floral, herbaceous, naturally sweet, and honey-like flavors. A stronger cup can be attained by extending the steep time.
