Dragon Well, Long Jing, has a rich and long history of cultivation and may well be the most famous tea in the world. Its exquisite taste highlights why it is much sought after and recognized as one of China’s most popular teas. Grown organically, artisanal crafted, this lot is an excellent choice as an everyday tea. An invigorating beverage anytime, it goes well with food for added flavor and acts as a digestive.

Lot Notes. Our Dragon Well is sourced in Zhejiang Province. The cultivation of this local cultivar has developed a taste profile we find honors the finest traditions of this tea. The leaves are crafted to offer the "4 uniques" of this famed tea - jade color, vegetative aroma, chestnut-like flavor and a feather shape.

Tea Facts. Grown organically in Zhejiang Province. Harvest date is April 2024. Farm location is well outside the congested urban area and the effects of its factory belt. Leaves are small to medium in size. Note the light "fuzz" on the leaves and the unmistakably delicious aroma that supports its fresh taste.

Tasting Notes. Crisp flavors and a rich vegetal aroma. Steeped, this lot offers sweet, nutty, chestnut-like notes. Cup liquor is green-yellow and clean. The finish will linger with sweet flavors.

Brewing Suggestions. We suggest using 2-2.5 grams of leaf (a teaspoon) for 6-8 ounces of water. Best if the water temperature is well below boiling at 195 F. Steep for 2 minutes and taste. All the taste notes should be open at this stage. For a stronger cup, steep 2.5 minutes and enjoy. Leaves provide multiple steeps.

GREEN TEA

3 grams/1 teaspoon per 6 ounces of water

170° - 195° F

2 Minutes

Full-leaf green teas will open to layered, delicate flavors. The freshly picked leaves are dehydrated to prevent oxidization and preserve their natural green color. Japanese green teas are steamed to preserve their fresh aromas and flavor notes. It is best if green tea is not brewed with boiling water.

Lower temperature water allows the leaves to steep slowly, preserving their natural sweetness. Green teas and yellow teas offer a gentle vegetal aroma. In the mouth, flavors range from spring asparagus and delicate notes of sorrel and raw vegetables to herbaceous and nutty.

    Green Tea Dragon Well

Posted by Patrick McLaughlin on 15th Jan 2021

This is simply my favorite green tea of them all. Very vegetal tasting with a toasty nutt flavor. So good with breakfast lunch or dinner. Their Jade Spring is a close second. Top shelf tea for sure. Thank you SRT for not compromising your standards when it comes to quality teas!!!

    Long Jing tea (lung ching)

Dragon well tea reminds me of China. It is the tea I drink when traveling. I love the mild taste and the way the leaves unfurl as they steep. It has a nice grassy flavor and is not bitter even when you let the leaves stay in the cup a long time.

A delightful green tea. Aromatic and flavorful as a good green should be. I added a bit extra to the initial steep. Very satisfying brew.

A solid everyday tea. Requires many leaves to extract fuller flavor. Excellent customer service is a bonus.

    great tea

I try to purchase and use only organic green teas. Silk Roads has a fair selection and I believe I have tried them all. My favorite due to flavor and price is the organic Dragon Well, I use it for hot as well as iced.

    Good Organic Green Tea

Posted by Deren Ross on 7th Jan 2017

For healthy living reasons, several years ago I switched from coffee to green tea and, happily, I've never looked back. Wanting to take it a step further, I thought i should look for an organic green tea but, until recently, organic green teas were hard to find. As a regular SRT Dragon Well and Silver Needle customer, I was very happy to see SRT offering an "organic" Dragon Well green tea. Yahoo! I've been enjoying this tea for the past month. It's grassy, nutty, full bodied, and organic ( a higher standard)…everything a passionate green-head would want. This is a very good tea. Drink well (DWO), Deren Ross Auburn, CA
