Artistry! A single spring harvest Mao Feng leaf is hand rolled into a pearl and air dried to rich golden colors. The pearls are full-bodied and noted for their smooth and malty flavors. Distinctly large leaves will slowly unfurl releasing an aromatic bouquet.

Lot Notes. The striking rich colors of the pearls triggers interest. We noted the large size of the leaf and as it is early spring pick the leaves class as high grade.

Tea Facts. Cultivar is Mao Feng. This cultivar can offer deep flavors particularly when crafted to a black. Pearl is hand rolled with a single leaf. Grown in Fujian Province, the harvest date is April 2024.

Taste profile. Liquor is golden-red. Aromatic, flavors are stone fruit and caramel finishing with a sweet & warming note.

Brewing suggestions. Note, the pearls are slow to open. With the 2nd and 3rd steeps the tea's flavors fully release. Use approximately one tablespoon per 6-8 ounces of water at a temperature of 195-205 degrees F. Steep for 2-3 minutes and multiple steeps are in order!

Black tea is a leaf that has been fully oxidized. This rigorous oxidization produces a tea of hearty rich flavors while reducing its astringency and bringing out a natural sweetness.

Flavors will range from bright, brisk, peppery, clean, and smoky to aromatic, bold, malty, nutty, spicy, and sweet. Blacks are known for long, delicately aromatic, and comforting aftertastes. Note, they are often enjoyed with milk or sweetener.
