We procured this Dragon Well during our visit to Hangzhou in late March 2026. Over the years, we’ve found that local factories in the surrounding area, particularly those producing for the domestic market, craft Dragon Wells with flavor profiles more aligned to local tastes versus higher-fire lots, while still honoring the tea’s celebrated “Four Uniques” – signature feather-shaped leaf, jade-green color, a fresh vegetative aroma, and chestnut-like, nutty flavors.
- Dragon Well, "Longjing," with its rich appearance, is widely regarded as the quintessential spring green. More than any other tea, it signals the arrival of the season.
- Our lot is both Pre-Qing Ming and certified organic, high grade, produced by a garden in Shen Zhou County, outside Hangzhou.
- This early-season organic offers a clean, expressive character. Its nutty aroma leads to toasty notes of sweet chestnut and tender green beans.

Full-leaf green teas will open to layered, delicate flavors. The freshly picked leaves are dehydrated to prevent oxidization and preserve their natural green color. Japanese green teas are steamed to preserve their fresh aromas and flavor notes. It is best if green tea is not brewed with boiling water.
Lower temperature water allows the leaves to steep slowly, preserving their natural sweetness. Green teas and yellow teas offer a gentle vegetal aroma. In the mouth, flavors range from spring asparagus and delicate notes of sorrel and raw vegetables to herbaceous and nutty.
